Christianity Today's cover story: Why Torture is Always Wrong.

On a personal note - the front-line troops that I accompanied into Iraq in 2003 treated detainees honorably and humanely at all times. I never heard a single report (or even a rumor) of ill-treatment from nearby units. From my admittedly limited perspective, abuse is the exception, not the rule.
